30th December 2003 Sheep Dog Results. Three trials were held in the North of England over the festive period which all raised money for charity. Alf Kyme hosted a nursery trial at Lumb, on Boxing Day, where £300 was raised for cancer research. William Heslop of Baxenden judged the entry of 41 dogs. Over an undulating downhill course the winning trial came at number 12 when Jim Cropper and Glen scored 79 points. Also on Boxing Day Stuart Stevens hosted an open trial at Temple Normanton, where Nij Vyas of Wigston judged an entry of 45 dogs. £103 was raised and donated to the Western Park Hospital, Sheffield. Over a testing course that was set over two fields the running was on good to manage continental crossbred hoggs. Running early at number seven Dennis Hudson took the title with his homebred dog Nap. On Sunday Nick Bennett organised another testing open trial at Hesketh Bank where £140 was raised for a cancer charity. Over a large flat course the running was on manageable Swaledale hoggs, however, the very wet and windy weather made both seeing and hearing difficult. Bob Clarkson of Embsay judged the entry of 58 dogs. Richard Hutchinson earned the highest score of the day with his young bitch Sally. RESULTS: BOXING DAY Charity Trial, Lumb, Nursery (41 ran): 1, J.
